ACT NO. 2098
AN ACT RELATING TO CONTRACTS OF PERSONAL SERVICE AND ADVANCES THEREUNDER, AND PROVIDING PUNISHMENT FOR CERTAIN OFFENSES CONNECTED THEREWITH
SECTION 1. Any person who, with intent to injure or defraud his employer, enters into a contract for the performance of any act of personal service, and thereby obtains money or other personal property from such employer as a gratuity or advance on wages to be earned under such contract of employment, and without just cause, and without refunding such money or paying for such property, refuses or fails to perform such act of service, shall on conviction thereof be punished by a fine of not more than two hundred pesos, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or with both penalties.
SECTION 2. Any person who with intent to injure or defraud his landlord, enters into a contract in writing for the rent of land, under an agreement to cultivate such land, and thereby obtains money or other personal property from such landlord, and without just cause, and without refunding such money or paying for such personal property, refuses or fails to cultivate such land, or to comply with his contract relative thereto, shall on conviction be punished by a fine of not more than two hundred pesos, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or with both penalties.
SECTION 3. Any person who with intent to injure or defraud shall contract with another to receive from him personal services of any kind and to compensate him therefor, and thereafter with like intent receives the benefit of such services in whole or in part and fails or refuses to pay the compensation agreed upon shall upon conviction thereof be punished by a fine of not more than two hundred pesos, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or with both penalties.
