Constitution of Committee for Development of Labor-Intensive Projects for Dislocated Workers in the Wood Industry
Letter of Instructions No. 1054, issued on August 7, 1980, by President Ferdinand E. Marcos, mandates the creation of a committee comprising various ministers to address the employment crisis resulting from a logging ban aimed at forest conservation and flood control. The committee is tasked with studying and implementing labor-intensive projects, such as tree planting and dendrothermal initiatives, to absorb the laid-off workers from the wood industry. It is authorized to seek assistance from other government agencies and is required to provide periodic reports on its activities. This directive underscores the government's commitment to both environmental protection and job creation in response to economic challenges faced by affected workers.
