LETTER OF INSTRUCTIONS NO. 188

Pursuant to Proclamation No. 1081 dated September 21, 1972 and General Orders No. 2 and No. 2-A, dated September 22, 1972 and September 26, 1972, respectively, and in my capacity as Commander-in-Chief of all of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, in order to eliminate the possible sources of military uniforms and other military items/articles which could be used by unscrupulous persons in the commission of crimes involving usurpation of authority, title, improper use of name, rank, and insignias and other related crimes as defined in Articles 177 to 179 of the Revised Penal Code, you are hereby ordered to cause the seizure, confiscation and taking into custody of all military uniforms/items being sold or otherwise possessed by surplus stores and other unauthorized sources/dealers wherever they may be found. Sixty (60) days after the promulgation of this Letter of Instructions, unauthorized persons found selling, buying, or possessing such military uniforms/items shall be detained until otherwise ordered by me or the Secretary of National Defense.
In carrying out the foregoing order, injury to persons and destruction to property must be avoided.
The Secretary of National Defense shall prescribe such rules and regulations to implement this instructions.
