Concurrent Philippine Consulate in Singapore, Federation of Malaya, British North Borneo, Sarawak and Brunei
Republic Act No. 629, enacted on June 5, 1951, provides for the establishment of a Concurrent Philippine Consulate in Singapore, with additional representation in the Federation of Malaya, British North Borneo, Sarawak, and Brunei. The Act allocates a total budget of P34,600 for the consulate's operation, including salaries for staff, sundry expenses, and special expenses for initial setup and representation. Importantly, it states that the establishment of the consulate in British North Borneo does not waive any claims to the territory by the heirs of the Sultan of Sulu or the Philippine Government. The provisions of the Appropriation Act for the fiscal year 1952 will also apply to this funding. The Act took effect on July 1, 1951.
