Compensation of Members of Police Force or Fire Department Who Die or Are Disabled in Line of Duty
Republic Act No. 784, enacted on June 21, 1952, establishes compensation for municipal police and fire department members who die or are disabled while on duty. Heirs of deceased members are entitled to 1,000 pesos plus 200 pesos for funeral costs, while totally disabled members receive six months of their salary and 20% thereafter. Partially disabled members are compensated for their confinement period, not exceeding six months. The financial responsibility for these compensations is shared equally between the National Government and the respective municipality, with an appropriation of 100,000 pesos from the National Treasury to support these payments.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 784
AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR COMPENSATION OF MEMBERS OF MUNICIPAL POLICE FORCES AND FIRE DEPARTMENT WHO DIE OR ARE DISABLED IN LINE OF DUTY
SECTION 1. When any member of the police force or fire department of a municipality is:
(a) Killed in line of duty, his heirs shall be entitled to a compensation of one thousand pesos plus two hundred pesos for funeral expenses;
(b) Totally disabled in line of duty, he shall be paid his salary for a period of six months and twenty per cent of his monthly salary thereafter; acd
(c) Partially disabled in line of duty, he shall be entitled to his salary during the period of his confinement but in no case to exceed six months.
SECTION 2. The definitions contained in Act Numbered Three thousand four hundred twenty-eight, otherwise known as "The Workmen's Compensation Act", as amended as to what constitutes total or partial disability are incorporated and made a part hereof.
SECTION 3. The expenses in carrying out the provisions of this Act shall be borne in equal shares by the National Government and the municipality concerned.
SECTION 4. There is authorized to be appropriated, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of one hundred thousand pesos to cover the share of the National Government for the payment of the compensations provided for herein.
SECTION 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
