AN ACT CHANGING THE NAME OF THE PARARA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF TIGBAUAN, PROVINCE OF ILOILO, TO MAYOR EUGENIO T. TORRENTO MEMORIAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

WHEREAS, the late Mayor Eugenio T. Torrento, who was born in Barangay Parara, Municipality of Tigbauan, Province of Iloilo, on 31 August 1911, had, at the time of his death on 30 March 1983, served the Municipality of Tigbauan for half a century in various capacities, namely, as policeman, chief of police, guerilla leader, councilor, vice-mayor, and as mayor for twenty-five (25) years;

WHEREAS, the late Eugenio T. Torrento's rise to leadership in the Municipality of Tigbauan in spite of humble beginnings and his attachment to and concern for the common man, provided, and undoubtedly will continue to provide, inspiration to the youth of the Municipality of Tigbauan, particularly his barangay of birth, Parara; and,

WHEREAS, in view of the foregoing, it is fitting and proper that the elementary school of Barangay Parara be named in honor of the late Mayor Eugenio T. Torrento: Now, therefore, cdt

SECTION 1. The name of the Parara Elementary School in the Municipality of Tigbauan, Province of Iloilo, is changed to Mayor Eugenio T. Torrento Memorial Elementary School.

SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
