Authority of Manila Railroad Co. to Incur Indebtedness
Republic Act No. 470, enacted on June 9, 1950, authorizes the Manila Railroad Company to incur an indebtedness of up to forty-five million pesos. This funding, guaranteed by the Philippine government, is intended for the rehabilitation, restoration, and extension of its railway lines, as well as the purchase of necessary equipment. The Act specifies that the company may extend its services to various locations, including Albay, Laguna, and Cagayan, but prohibits terminal extensions within 100 meters of any national highway. The law aims to support not only the railroad infrastructure but also the promotion of tourism in the Philippines.
