RESOLUTION OF BOTH HOUSES NO. 1
APPROVING THE REPORT OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE NATIONAL ELECTIONS HELD ON MAY 10, 2010, FOR THE OFFICES OF PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT, AND PROCLAIMING THE DULY ELECTED PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution, Republic Act No. 7166, Republic Act No. 9369 and the Rules of the Joint Public Session of Congress on Canvassing, the Joint Committee of both Houses canvassed the Certificates of Canvass sent to Congress duly certified by the Board of Canvassers of each province, city and district and for absentee voting (local and overseas), and publicly counted the votes of the candidates for the Offices of the President and Vice President in the national elections held on May 10, 2010;
WHEREAS, the Joint Committee, after determining the authenticity and due execution of the Certificates of Canvass in the manner provided by law, canvassed the votes;

RESOLVED, FURTHER, to declare that candidate BENIGNO SIMEON COJUANGCO AQUINO III and candidate JEJOMAR CABAUATAN BINAY received the highest number of votes cast for President and Vice President, respectively, in the national elections held on May 10, 2010 and by virtue thereof, to proclaim BENIGNO SIMEON COJUANGCO AQUINO III as the duly elected President of the Republic of the Philippines and JEJOMAR CABAUATAN BINAY as the duly elected Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines.
