Anti-Squatting Law Repeal Act of 1997

Republic Act No. 8368Statutes

Republic Act No. 8368, known as the "Anti-Squatting Law Repeal Act of 1997," repeals Presidential Decree No. 772, which penalized squatting and similar acts. As a result, all pending cases under the repealed decree will be dismissed once the Act takes effect. However, the repeal does not affect the provisions of Republic Act No. 7279 regarding professional squatters and squatting syndicates. The Act will take effect 30 days after its publication in two national newspapers.
