Republic Act No. 8482, enacted on February 10, 1998, upgrades the Camiguin Island Hospital to a tertiary level II facility, renaming it the Camiguin General Hospital. This hospital will be under the direct supervision of the Department of Health, which is tasked with establishing the necessary rules and regulations for its operation. Initial funding for the upgrade will be sourced from the current year's appropriations, with future operational costs included in the annual General Appropriations Act. The Act also repeals any inconsistent laws, taking effect immediately upon its approval.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8482

AN ACT UPGRADING THE CAMIGUIN ISLAND HOSPITAL TO TERTIARY LEVEL II TO BE KNOWN AS THE CAMIGUIN GENERAL HOSPITAL, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR

SECTION 1. The Camiguin Island Hospital which is located in Mambajao, Camiguin, is hereby upgraded to tertiary level II to be known as the Camiguin General Hospital which shall be under the direct administrative and technical supervision of the Department of Health.

SECTION 2. The Department of Health shall promulgate the rules and regulations necessary for the effective implementation of this Act.

SECTION 3. The amount necessary for the initial implementation of this Act shall be charged against the current year's appropriations for the Organizational Adjustment Fund. Thereafter, such sums as may be needed for its continued operation shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

SECTION 4. All laws, decrees, orders, rules and regulations inconsistent with this Act are hereby repealed or amended accordingly.

SECTION 5. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
