An Act to Appropriate Funds for Charitable Purposes
Act No. 2370, enacted on February 28, 1914, appropriates a total of seventy thousand pesos from the Insular Treasury for various charitable purposes in the Philippines. The funds are allocated to initiatives such as tuberculosis eradication, infant protection, and the support of hospitals and day nurseries, with specific amounts designated for each institution. Importantly, the act stipulates that no funding will be provided to organizations that discriminate based on religious beliefs, and the intended use of the funds must receive approval from the Secretary of Public Instruction. Additionally, it reverts a prior allocation of one hundred thousand pesos for medical treatment back to the treasury's general surplus. The law became effective on January 1, 1914.
