An Act to Amend Section Six Hundred and Twelve of Act Numbered Twenty-Seven Hundred and Eleven, Known as the Administrative Code
Act No. 2979, approved on February 21, 1921, amends Section 612 of the Administrative Code regarding the acceptance of checks for government revenue payments. It allows officers responsible for collecting taxes or dues to accept checks drawn on banks in the Philippines as valid payment. If a check is not honored by the bank, the issuer remains liable for the owed amount and any penalties for late payment. Additionally, the acceptance of checks will cease for any bank that refuses to accept or cash them without fees. This amendment aims to streamline revenue collection processes.
