An Act to Amend Act Numbered Three Hundred and Nine, Entitled "An Act Providing for the Compulsory Vaccination of the Inhabitants of the Philippine Islands," so as to Provide that the Inoculation of Any Human Being with Smallpox Virus shall be Unlawful
Act No. 1894, enacted on May 15, 1909, amends prior legislation regarding vaccination in the Philippines. It prohibits the inoculation of individuals with smallpox virus, declaring such practices unlawful. Authorized health officials must provide vaccinated individuals with a certificate detailing the vaccination date and other relevant information, which must be recorded in a municipal book. Violators of the inoculation prohibition may face fines of up to 200 pesos or imprisonment for up to six months, or both, at the court's discretion. This amendment reinforces public health measures by ensuring safe vaccination practices.
