Republic Act No. 9012, enacted on February 28, 2001, reschedules the regular elections for elective officials in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) to the second Monday of September 2001. It amends the previous Republic Act No. 8953, specifying that the terms of the elected officials will commence on September 30, 2001, and will last for three years. Funding for these elections will come from the national government's savings or be allocated in the 2001 General Appropriations Act. The Act also ensures that if any provision is found unconstitutional, the remaining parts will still be valid, and it repeals conflicting laws. It takes effect upon the President's approval.
