ACT NO. 1079
AN ACT REPEALING A PORTION OF ACT NUMBERED EIGHT HUNDRED AND SEVEN, RELATING TO THE OFFICE OF REPORTER OF THE DECISIONS OF THE SUPREME COURT, AND CREATING THAT OFFICE AS AN INDEPENDENT ONE, AND AMENDING SECTION THIRTY OF ACT NUMBERED ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SIX IN RELATION TO THE APPOINTMENT AND SALARY OF A REPORTER OF THE DECISIONS OF THE SUPREME COURT
SECTION 1. That portion of section one of Act Numbered Eight hundred and seven under the subhead of "Bureau of Justice," which reads as follows: "Provided, That the separate office of reporter from the first day of August, nineteen hundred and three, is hereby abolished, and the duties pertaining to said office shall be performed by the clerk of the court in addition to his other duties as provided by law, is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. Section thirty of Act Numbered One hundred and thirty-six is hereby amended so as to read as follows:
"SEC. 30. Reporter of Decisions. — The Civil Governor, with the advice and consent of the Philippine Commission, shall appoint a reporter of the decisions of the Supreme Court, who shall receive a salary at the rate of four thousand Philippine pesos per year, payable quarterly, upon the certificate of a majority of the judges of the court that he has performed the duties of the office for the preceding quarter, and is entitled to the compensation herein provided. The reporter shall provide his own office room, clerical assistants, translators, typewriters, and other aids out of the salary herein provided."
SECTION 3. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect as of January first, nineteen hundred and four.
