REPUBLIC ACT NO. 11169

AN ACT RENAMING THE DON HONORIO VENTURA TECHNOLOGICAL STATE UNIVERSITY (DHVTSU) IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF BACOLOR, PROVINCE OF PAMPANGA AS THE DON HONORIO VENTURA STATE UNIVERSITY (DHVSU), AND EXPANDING ITS CURRICULAR OFFERINGS, AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9832, ENTITLED "AN ACT CONVERTING THE DON HONORIO VENTURA COLLEGE OF ARTS AND TRADES IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF BACOLOR, PROVINCE OF PAMPANGA INTO A STATE UNIVERSITY TO BE KNOWN AS THE DON HONORIO VENTURA TECHNOLOGICAL STATE UNIVERSITY (DHVTSU) AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR"

SECTION 1. The Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU) in the Municipality of Bacolor, Province of Pampanga is hereby renamed as the Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU), hereinafter referred to as the University.

SECTION 2. The University shall primarily provide advanced instruction and professional training in education, engineering, science and technology, arts and humanities, information and communications technology education, liberal arts, medical, health-related programs, and other relevant fields of study. It shall also undertake research, extension services, and production activities and provide progressive leadership in its areas of specialization in support of the socioeconomic development of the Province of Pampanga and Region III.

SECTION 3. Curricular Offerings. — The University shall offer technical-vocational, undergraduate and graduate courses in the fields of education, engineering, science and technology, arts and humanities, information and communications technology, liberal arts, legal management, law, medicine and allied sciences, health-related courses, entrepreneurial programs, creative industries, travel management, culinary management, and other relevant courses within its areas of specialization and based on its capabilities, as the Board of Regents may deem necessary to carry out its objectives, in order to meet the needs of the Province of Pampanga and Region III: Provided, That no degree program shall be offered without the approval of the Commission on Higher Education before the same shall be approved by the Board.

The University may operate a reasonably-sized laboratory school if it has a College of Education.

SECTION 4. Repealing Clause. — All provisions of Republic Act No. 9832 referring to the name of Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University are hereby modified accordingly. CAIHTE

SECTION 5. Effectivity. — This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
