An Act Providing for the Conversion of Judge Guillermo Eleazar Memorial School of Fisheries in the Municipality of Tagkawayan, Province of Quezon, into a Polytechnic College to be Known as Judge Guillermo Eleazar Polytechnic College, and Appropriating Funds Therefor

AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE CONVERSION OF JUDGE GUILLERMO ELEAZAR MEMORIAL SCHOOL OF FISHERIES IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF TAGKAWAYAN, PROVINCE OF QUEZON, INTO A POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE TO BE KNOWN AS JUDGE GUILLERMO ELEAZAR POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR

SECTION 1.  The Judge Guillermo Eleazar Memorial School of Fisheries in the Municipality of Tagkawayan, Province of Quezon, is hereby converted into a polytechnic college, to be known as Judge Guillermo Eleazar Polytechnic College.

SECTION 2.  The Judge Guillermo Eleazar Polytechnic College herein established shall offer four-year degree courses in the fields of education, fishery, and marine biology, as well as short-term technician courses in trade, forestry, and fishery technology as may be necessary to meet the national and regional needs for trained manpower.

SECTION 3.  The existing high school shall be transferred to the jurisdiction and supervision of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports: Provided, That this high school shall be allowed to remain and operate within the campus of the college until it shall have been transferred to another location, or until its students shall have been accommodated in other public or private high schools: Provided, further, That the college may operate a reasonably-sized laboratory school if it has a college of education. prcd

SECTION 4.  The Commission on Higher Education shall promulgate the rules and regulations necessary for the immediate and effective implementation of this Act.

SECTION 5.  All personnel, assets, liabilities, and records of the Judge Guillermo Eleazar Memorial School of Fisheries are hereby transferred and absorbed by the Judge Guillermo Eleazar Polytechnic College.

SECTION 6.  The amount necessary for the implementation of this Act shall be charged against the current year's appropriations of the Judge Guillermo Eleazar Memorial School of Fisheries. Thereafter, such sums as may be necessary for the operations and maintenance of the Judge Guillermo Eleazar Polytechnic College shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

SECTION 7.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
