ACT NO. 2899
AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE HEIRS OR REPRESENTATIVE OF THE LATE LUCRECIO HOFILEÑA TO BRING SUIT AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS AND DIRECTING THE ATTORNEY-GENERAL TO APPEAR IN SAID SUIT FOR SAID GOVERNMENT
SECTION 1. The heirs or legal representatives of the late Lucrecio Hofileña are hereby authorized to bring suit within six months from and after the approval of this Act, in the Court of First Instance of Manila or Iloilo, against the Government of the Philippine Islands, to show what right they have, if any, to any part of the funds deposited in the year nineteen hundred in the Insular Treasury by the military authorities of the United States as funds seized from the insurgent forces, and the Attorney-General is authorized and directed to appear at the trial, either in person or through a delegate, on the behalf of the Government of the Philippine Islands, to defend said Government. SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
