ACT NO. 2133
AN ACT APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF THIRTY THOUSAND PESOS, OR SUCH PART THEREOF AS MAY BE NECESSARY FROM INSULAR FUNDS, FOR THE EXPENSES OF THE RECEPTION OF ANY COMMITTEE OF THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS WHICH MAY VISIT THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS, DURING THE CALENDAR YEAR NINETEEN HUNDRED AND TWELVE AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
SECTION 1. The sum of thirty thousand pesos, or so much thereof as may be necessary is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the payment of the expenses of reception and entertainment, at Manila and in the provinces, of the members of any committee of the United States Congress who may visit the Philippine Islands to study conditions in the country and prepare and make recommendations to Congress, and for the payment of any expenses relating to the coming of such committee.
SECTION 2. The amount appropriated by this Act shall be expended in the discretion of a reception committee, composed of the President and six members of the Philippine Commission, to be appointed by the President of the Commission; the Speaker and six members of the Philippine Assembly, to be appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly; and seven private citizens of the Philippine Islands who shall be appointed by the Governor-General and who shall represent the Municipal Board of the city of Manila, and two Filipino political parties, the merchants and the press, which shall organize and take over its duties, without compensation of any sort for such services, as soon as the visit of such committee of the United States Congress is assured, and shall be authorized to adopt such resolutions as it may deem necessary or advisable for the reception and information of said congressional committee.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on its passage and be in effect only until December thirty-first, nineteen hundred and twelve.
