ACT NO. 1043
AN ACT AMENDING THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT ACT BY AUTHORIZING THE CIVIL GOVERNOR TO POSTPONE THE ELECTION FOR GOVERNOR IN ANY PROVINCE UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES
SECTION 1. Section four of Act Numbered Eighty-three, being the Provincial Government Act, as amended by section one of Act Numbered Three hundred and thirty-six, is hereby further amended by inserting, after the words "capital of the province" in the sixth line of said section, the following words: "for the purpose of electing a provincial governor: Provided, however, That the Civil Governor, by and with the consent of the Commission, may postpone the election for governor in any province when he deems such a course conducive to the public interest," so that the first sentence of said section shall read as follows: HTcADC
"SEC. 4. The provincial governor shall be selected in the following manner: On the first Monday in February of the year nineteen hundred and two and of each second year thereafter, at eight antemeridian of said day, the vice-president and councilors of every duly organized municipality in the province shall meet in joint convention at the capital of the province, for the purpose of electing a provincial governor: Provided, however, That the Civil Governor, by and with the consent of the commission, may postpone the election for governor in any province when he deems such a course conducive to the public interest."
SECTION 2. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
