Amendments to R.A. No. 4153 Re: Salary Standardization for Officials of Bureau of Public Highways

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 4890

AN ACT AMENDING REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED FORTY-ONE HUNDRED FIFTY-THREE BY STANDARDIZING THE SALARIES OF OFFICIALS IN THE BUREAU OF PUBLIC HIGHWAYS

SECTION 1. Section one of Republic Act Numbered Forty-one hundred fifty-three is hereby amended to read as follows:

"Sec. 1. Any existing law to the contrary notwithstanding, salaries of the following positions in the Bureau of Public Highways are hereby fixed as follows:

"(a) Commissioner, Eighteen thousand pesos per annum — Range 67;

(b) Chief Highway Engineer, Seventeen thousand one hundred pesos per annum — Range 65;

"(c) Highway Division Engineer, Chief of Specialized Divisions (Construction, Maintenance, Programming and Planning, Designing, Materials Testing and Physical Research, Foreign Loan, Development Projects and Equipment and Shop), the Administrative Engineer and Head Executive Assistant in the Central Office, Sixteen thousand two hundred pesos per annum — Range 64 and the Assistant Chiefs of the above specialized divisions in the Central Office and Field Engineering Division at Fourteen thousand four hundred pesos per annum — Range 61; casia

"(d) Chiefs of the Personnel and other Divisions in the Central Office, including Internal Audit Service and Administrative Officer V at Fourteen thousand four hundred pesos per annum — Range 58 and the Assistant Chief of the above other Divisions, and Internal Audit Service, at Ten thousand eight hundred pesos per annum — Range 55;

"(e) Chief of Section, except non-technical section, under the Specialized Technical Divisions in the Central Office and Field Division Offices, at Twelve thousand six hundred pesos per annum — Range 58 and Chief of Sections under the other Divisions, Internal Audit Service, and non-technical sections of specialized Technical Divisions at Nine thousand six hundred pesos per annum — Range 53;

"(f) Assistant Chiefs of Section under the specialized Technical Divisions in the Central Office and Field Division Offices, at Ten thousand eight hundred pesos per annum — Range 55;

"(g) Sub-Section Chief under the specialized Technical Divisions in the Central Office and Field Division Offices at Ten thousand two hundred pesos per annum — Range 54."

SECTION 2. Section two of the same Act is hereby amended to read as follows:

"Sec. 2. In order to carry out the provisions of this Act for the fiscal year ending June thirty, nineteen hundred sixty-eight, the Commissioner of Public Highways, with the approval of the Commissioner of the Budget, is hereby authorized to charge the salary differentials of the officials whose salaries are herein standardized against the appropriations for "Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses" under the General Appropriations Act for the fiscal year nineteen hundred sixty-eight, for the Bureau of Public Highways."

SECTION 3. The incumbents of the positions whose salaries are herein standardized shall automatically be entitled to the benefits hereof without the need of another appointment.

SECTION 4. All Acts, executive order, administrative orders, proclamations, rules and regulations, or parts thereof, inconsistent with this Act are hereby repealed or amended accordingly.

SECTION 5. This Act shall take effect on July first, Nineteen Hundred Sixty-Seven.
