Amendments to R.A. No. 2311 (Grant of Temporary Permit to Taggat Sawmill Co., Inc.)
Republic Act No. 3224, enacted on June 17, 1961, amends an earlier law granting Taggat Industries a temporary permit to construct, maintain, and operate private fixed point-to-point and land-based radio stations in the Philippines. The amendment specifies that this permit is subject to existing laws related to radio communications and public service. The title of the original act has been updated to reflect the company's current name, Taggat Industries. REPUBLIC ACT NO. 3224
AN ACT AMENDING REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED TWENTY-THREE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN, ENTITLED "AN ACT GRANTING THE TAGGAT SAWMILL COMPANY, INC., A TEMPORARY PERMIT TO CONSTRUCT, MAINTAIN AND OPERATE PRIVATE FIXED POINT-TO-POINT AND LAND BASED RADIO STATIONS FOR THE RECEPTION AND TRANSMISSION OF RADIO COMMUNICATIONS WITHIN THE PHILIPPINES"
SECTION 1. Section one of Republic Act Numbered Twenty-three hundred and eleven is hereby amended to read as follows: cd i
"Sec. 1. Subject to the provisions of the Constitution as well as of Act Numbered Three thousand eight hundred forty-six, entitled "An Act providing for the regulation of radio stations and radio communications in the Philippine Islands, and for other purposes;" Act Numbered Three thousand nine hundred ninety-seven, known as the Radio Broadcasting Law; Commonwealth Act Numbered One hundred and forty-six, known as the Public Service Act, and their amendments, and other applicable laws, not inconsistent with this Act, there is hereby granted to the Taggat Industries, its successors or assigns, a temporary permit to construct, operate and maintain in the Philippines, at such places as the said company may select and the Secretary of Public Works and Communications may approve, private fixed point-to-point and land based radio stations for the reception and transmission of wireless messages on radiotelegraphy and/or radiotelephony, each station to be provided with radio transmitting apparatus and radio receiving apparatus."
SECTION 2. The title of said Act is amended to read as follows:
"An Act granting the Taggat Industries, a temporary permit to construct, maintain and operate private fixed point-to-point and land based radio stations for the reception and transmission of radio communications within the Philippines."
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
