Amendment to Section 8 of B.P. Blg. 20
Presidential Decree No. 1627, issued on July 6, 1979, amends Section 8 of Batas Pambansa Blg. 20 regarding the convening of the Sangguniang Pampook in Regions IX and XII. The amendment allows the President (Prime Minister) to determine an appropriate date for the initial convening of the Sangguniang Pampook, instead of the previously set timeline of 60 days following the proclamation of a majority of its members. This change was necessitated by delays in preparatory activities. The decree took immediate effect upon issuance and was published in the Official Gazette on August 6, 1979.
