Amendment to Section 3 of R.A. No. 2640 (Creation of Veterans Federation of the Philippines)

Batas Pambansa Blg. 35, enacted on June 27, 1979, amends Section Three of Republic Act No. 2640, which established the Veterans Federation of the Philippines. The amendment specifies that only associations comprised of veterans who served in significant historical conflicts, including the Philippine Revolution, World Wars I and II, and the Korean War, or retirees with at least ten years of military service, can be affiliated members of the Federation. Additionally, these individuals must have been honorably discharged, remain active, or be in inactive reserve status. The law took effect upon its approval and was published in the Official Gazette.

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION THREE OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED TWENTY-SIX HUNDRED AND FORTY, CREATING THE VETERANS FEDERATION OF THE PHILIPPINES, AS AMENDED

 Section Three of Republic Act Numbered Twenty-six hundred and forty is amended to read as follows: cdt

"Sec. 3. No association shall be affiliated member of the Federation unless it is integrated by veterans who served in the naval, air or land arms or services in the Philippines at some time in the Philippine Revolution, or World War I or II, or in the United States Army Forces in the Far East in World War II, or in the Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea in the Korean campaign, or in any armed conflict in which the Philippines may be involved in the future, or retirees of the Armed Forces of the Philippines who had served in the military service for a minimum of ten years: Provided, however, That the said veterans, or retirees have been honorably discharged or separated from the service or continue in the active military service or are carried on the military rosters on inactive reserve." cd i

SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
