Amendment to Section 266 of C.A. No. 466 Re: Charges Collectible on Forest Products Gathered from Unregistered Private Lands
Republic Act No. 173, enacted on June 20, 1947, amends Section 266 of the National Internal Revenue Code concerning forest products sourced from unregistered private lands. It mandates that any owner wishing to cut, gather, or remove timber or forest products from unregistered land must obtain a license from the Director of Forestry, as specified by the Forest Law. Failure to secure this license will result in the act being deemed unlawful, thus subjecting the violator to the same charges applicable to illegal activities in public forests. The law aims to regulate the harvesting of forest products to prevent illegal activities and ensure compliance with forestry regulations. This act took effect immediately upon its approval.
