Amendment to R.A. No. 2234 (Charter of Legazpi City)
Republic Act No. 3270, enacted on June 17, 1961, amends Section 25 of the City of Legazpi's Charter under Republic Act No. 2234. It grants the Director of Public Schools jurisdiction and powers in Legazpi similar to those exercised elsewhere in the Philippines. The city superintendent of schools is given the same powers and duties as division superintendents, with the added stipulation that operational expenses for primary and intermediate schools will be funded by the National Government. Additionally, the division superintendent of Albay will serve as the city superintendent of schools, receiving an annual compensation of 1,200 pesos from city funds. This Act took effect upon its approval.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 3270
AN ACT AMENDING SECTION TWENTY-FIVE OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED TWENTY-TWO HUNDRED THIRTY-FOUR, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LEGAZPI
SECTION 1. Section twenty-five of Republic Act Numbered Twenty-two hundred thirty-four is amended to read as follows: acd
"Sec. 25. The Bureau of Public Schools. — The Director of Public Schools shall exercise the same jurisdiction and powers in the city as elsewhere in the Philippines, and the city superintendent of schools shall have all the powers and duties in respect to the schools of the city as are vested in division superintendents in respect to schools of their division: Provided, That the operational expenses of primary and intermediate schools shall be borne by the National Government. The division superintendent of schools of Albay shall act as ex officio city superintendent of schools with additional compensation of one thousand two hundred pesos per annum payable out of city funds."
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
