Amendment to Article 340 of the Revised Penal Code Re: Corruption of Minors

Batas Pambansa Blg. 92, enacted on December 24, 1980, amends Article 340 of the Revised Penal Code to redefine the crime of corruption of minors. It stipulates that any individual who promotes or facilitates the prostitution or corruption of minors will face a penalty of prision mayor. Furthermore, if the offender is a public official or employee, they will also incur the penalty of temporary absolute disqualification from public service. This law aims to enhance penalties for crimes against minors and took effect upon approval.

AN ACT MODIFYING THE DEFINITION OF THE CRIME OF CORRUPTION OF MINORS AND INCREASING THE PENALTY THEREFOR, AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE ARTICLE THREE HUNDRED FORTY OF THE REVISED PENAL CODE

SECTION 1. Article three hundred forty of the Revised Penal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: cdt

"ART. 340. Corruption of Minors. — Any person who shall promote or facilitate the prostitution or corruption of persons underage to satisfy the lust of another, shall be punished by prision mayor, and if the culprit is a public officer or employee, including those in government-owned or controlled corporations, he shall also suffer the penalty of temporary absolute disqualification."

SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval. casia
