Amending Sec. 8 of R.A. No. 477 Re: Alien Property Acquired Under the Philippine Property Act
Republic Act No. 4370, enacted on June 19, 1965, amends Section 8 of Republic Act No. 477 regarding the alienation of property acquired under the Philippine Property Act. The amendment stipulates that land and improvements acquired under the Act cannot be encumbered or alienated for ten years following the issuance of the certificate of title, except in favor of the government or certain religious entities. Additionally, it prohibits occupants or applicants from transferring their rights to the land before the award date, rendering such transfers null and void and disqualifying them from applying for other agricultural or residential properties. The law took effect upon its approval.
