EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 786
AMENDING SECTION 2 OF EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 247 ENTITLED "MANDATING THE SECRETARY OF TRANSPORTATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TO COORDINATE NATIONAL TRANSIT TRANSPORT"
WHEREAS, the provisions of the ASEAN Framework Agreement on the Facilitation of Goods in Transit ("Framework Agreement") and the protocols associated with it encompass areas requiring the expertise of other agencies and instrumentalities not otherwise mentioned under Executive Order No. 247; CDESIA
WHEREAS, to safeguard the interest of the country and to fully accomplish the objectives of the Framework Agreement, there is a need to include other government agencies and instrumentalities not provided for under the subject Executive Order;
WHEREAS, to properly implement the Framework Agreement, the Secretary of Transportation and Communications shall be afforded greater leeway in selecting agencies and instrumentalities which can ably assist him in coordinating the national transit transport;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law. Do hereby order:
SECTION 1. Section 2 of Executive Order No. 247 is hereby amended as follows:
"Section 2. In pursuit of said objectives, the Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communications may call upon for assistance any or all of the government agencies or instrumentalities, as may be necessary, including but not limited to the following:
Department of Agriculture
Department of Health
Department of Justice
Department of Finance
Department of Foreign Affairs
Department of Public Works and Highways
Department of Trade and Industry
Department of Transportation and Communications
SECTION 2. Repealing Clause. — All Presidential directives, issuances, order, rules and regulations or parts thereof inconsistent with this Executive Order are hereby repealed and modified accordingly.
SECTION 3. Effectivity. — This Executive Order shall take effect immediately upon its approval. ACaEcH
