Amending P.D. No. 824 Re: Creation of the Metropolitan Manila and Metropolitan Manila Commission

PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1274

AMENDING PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NUMBERED EIGHT HUNDRED AND TWENTY FOUR ENTITLED "CREATING THE METROPOLITAN MANILA AND THE METROPOLITAN MANILA COMMISSION AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES"

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Manila Commission as a body created pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 824 has not been organized or its members appointed; and casia

WHEREAS, pending the organization or appointment of the members of the Commission, it is necessary that its powers and functions be exercised by the Governor or Chairman thereof so as to insure the continuous, smooth and effective governance of Metropolitan Manila;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, president of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby amend Presidential Decree No. 824, as follows:

 A new section is hereby inserted after Section 14 thereof, to be designated as Section 15, which shall read as follows:

"SEC. 15. Until the organization or appointment of the members of the Metropolitan Manila Commission, the Governor or Chairman thereof shall exercise the powers and functions of the Commission."

 The existing Sections 15 and 16 of Presidential Decree No. 824 are hereby renumbered as Sections 16 and 17, respectively.

SECTION 3. This Decree shall take effect as of the date Presidential Decree No. 824 became effective. cd i
