Amending P.D. No. 1276 Re: Reward System for Information Leading to Confiscation of Gold, etc.
Presidential Decree No. 1608, issued on February 9, 1979, amends Presidential Decree No. 1276 to enhance the reward system established by the Central Bank of the Philippines for information that leads to the confiscation of illegally held gold, foreign exchange, and Philippine currency. The decree aims to bolster the government's efforts against smuggling and other unlawful activities by increasing the reward amount, which can be set by the Monetary Board but cannot exceed 20% of the forfeited proceeds. This measure reflects the government's intensified campaign against societal lawlessness and is effective immediately upon issuance.
