Act No. 2509, enacted on February 5, 1915, amends certain provisions of Act No. 1120 regarding the sale and lease of government property. It specifies that limitations on such sales and leases do not apply to provincial or municipal governments and their subdivisions. Additionally, it allows the Governor-General to exempt unsold or vacant land from lease or sale for public use upon petition from government entities, requiring them to pay the full value and accrued interest to the friar lands sinking fund. ACT NO. 2509
AN ACT TO AMEND CERTAIN SECTIONS OF ACT NUMBERED ELEVEN HUNDRED AND TWENTY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
SECTION 1. Section nine of Act Numbered Eleven hundred and twenty, as amended by Acts Numbered Eighteen hundred and forty-seven, Nineteen hundred and thirty-three, and Twenty-three hundred and seventy-nine, is hereby further amended by adding, at the end thereof, the following proviso: cHECAS
"And provided further, That this limitation shall not apply to sales made to a provincial or municipal government or to any other branch, subdivision, or entity of the Government."
SECTION 2. Section eleven of Act Numbered Eleven hundred and twenty, as amended by Acts Numbered Eighteen hundred and forty-seven and Nineteen hundred and thirty-three, is hereby further amended by adding at the end of the second paragraph the following proviso:
"Provided further, That the provisions of this paragraph shall not apply to leases or sales made to any provincial or municipal government or any subdivision, branch, or entity of the Government."
SECTION 3. Section twenty-one of the same Act is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following proviso:
"Provided, however, That on petition by any provincial or municipal government, or branch of the Insular Government, or any Government entity, the Governor-General may, by executive order, exempt from lease, sale, or other disposition any unsold or vacant land for the public service or use; and such provincial or municipal government, or branch of the Insular Government, or Government entity shall pay to the friar lands sinking fund the full value of the property so reserved, together with the accrued interest thereon."
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
