Amending C.A. No. 444 (Eight-Hour Labor Law)
Republic Act No. 1993, enacted on June 22, 1957, amends the Eight-Hour Labor Law by introducing a new provision, Section 7-A. This section stipulates that any legal action to enforce rights under the law must be initiated within three years from the date the cause of action arises; otherwise, the right to pursue such action will be permanently barred. However, any actions that were already filed before the enactment of this law will not be affected by this new time limit. REPUBLIC ACT NO. 1993
AN ACT TO AMEND COMMONWEALTH ACT NUMBERED FOUR HUNDRED FORTY-FOUR, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE EIGHT-HOUR LABOR LAW, BY PROVIDING A PRESCRIPTIVE PERIOD FOR CAUSES OF ACTION ARISING THEREUNDER
SECTION 1. Commonwealth Act Numbered Four hundred and forty-four, otherwise known as the Eight Hour labor Law, is amended by inserting a new section under section seven of the said Act, which shall be known as section seven-A, to read as follows: cd
"Sec. 7-A. Any action to enforce any cause of action under this Act shall be commenced within three years after the cause of action accrued, otherwise such action shall be forever barred: Provided, however, That actions already commenced before the effective date of this Act shall not be affected by the period herein prescribed."
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval. cd
