PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 661
ADJUSTING THE SALARIES OF SOLICITORS AND TRIAL ATTORNEYS IN THE OFFICE OF THE SOLICITOR GENERAL AND EXEMPTING PERSONNEL FROM WAPCO COVERAGE
WHEREAS, litigation and other legal work handled by the Office of the Solicitor General have increased in volume, complexity and significance;
WHEREAS, salary adjustments for personnel are necessary to maximize efficiency, to improve the quality of its personnel, and to maintain the effectiveness of the Office of the Solicitor General as the law office of the Government;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers in me vested by the Constitution, do hereby order and decree that:
SECTION 1. The provisions of existing laws to the contrary notwithstanding, the number of positions and the annual salaries of Solicitors and Trial Attorneys are hereby fixed as follows: aisa dc

SECTION 2. The Office of the Solicitor General shall be exempt from the coverage and the classification and compensation plans of the Wage and Position Classification Office (WAPCO). The salaries of members of its Administrative Staff are hereby restored to the same amounts provided under Republic Act No. 6458. acd
SECTION 3. There is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated such sums as may be necessary to pay the salary increases provided for in Section 1 hereof and thereafter the funds needed to implement the provisions of this Decree shall be in the annual Appropriation Act.
SECTION 4. The salary increases herein provided shall take effect immediately.
DONE in the City of Manila, this 25th day of February, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Seventy-Five.
