Act Making Positions of Mayor and Vice-Mayor of Bacolod City Elective
Republic Act No. 395, enacted on June 18, 1949, establishes that the positions of mayor and vice-mayor in the City of Bacolod will be elected by qualified voters, overriding previous provisions in the city’s charter. Both officials will serve a term of four years. This law will take effect during the next regular election for provincial and city officials. Additionally, any conflicting provisions in Commonwealth Act No. 326, which created the city's charter, are repealed.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 395
AN ACT MAKING THE POSITIONS OF MAYOR AND VICE-MAYOR IN THE CITY OF BACOLOD ELECTIVE
SECTION 1. The positions of mayor and vice-mayor of the City of Bacolod shall be elective, notwithstanding provisions to the contrary in the Act creating said city and amendments thereto. They shall hold office for a term of four years, and shall be elected by the qualified voters of the city. aisa dc
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect on the next regular election for provincial and city officials. All provisions of Commonwealth Act Numbered Three hundred and twenty-six as amended, known as the Charter of the City of Bacolod, inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, are hereby repealed.
