People v. Ylagan y Cruz
This is a criminal case entitled "People of the Philippines vs. Annabella Ylagan y Cruz" (G.R. No. 238750, January 14, 2019). The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal of Annabella Ylagan y Cruz, who was convicted for qualified theft under Article 310, in relation to Articles 308 and 309, of the Revised Penal Code, as amended. The Court of Appeals' decision was affirmed, finding Ylagan guilty beyond reasonable doubt and sentencing her to suffer the penalty of reclusion perpetua. She was also ordered to pay private complainant the amount of P9,852,722.55 as civil liability. The Supreme Court found no reversible error in the Court of Appeals' decision.

Please take notice that the Court, First Division, issued a Resolution dated January 14, 2019 which reads as follows:
"G.R. No. 238750 (People of the Philippines v. Annabella Ylagan y Cruz). — After review, the Court resolves to DISMISS the appeal for failure to sufficiently show that the Court of Appeals committed any reversible error in upholding the conviction of accused-appellant Annabella Ylagan y Cruz for the crime of qualified theft under Article 310, in relation to Articles 308 and 309, of the Revised Penal Code, as amended.
WHEREFORE, the Court ADOPTS the findings of fact and conclusions of law in the Decision dated May 26, 2017 of the Court of Appeals in CA-G.R. CR-HC No. 07749 and AFFIRMS said Decision finding accused-appellant Annabella Ylagan y Cruz GUILTY beyond reasonable doubt of the crime of qualified theft under Article 310, in relation to Articles 308 and 309, of the Revised Penal Code, as amended, sentencing her to suffer the penalty of reclusion perpetua and directing her to pay private complainant the amount of P9,852,722.55 as civil liability.
