Please take notice that the Court, Third Division, issued a Resolution dated January 28, 2019, which reads as follows:
"G.R. No. 227703: (PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES, plaintiff-appellee, v. JOMAR SANTOLICES Y BAUSTUSILA, ZEUS BELMONTE Y MORATO AND QUEEN ZARA AGUIATAN Y CABILING, accused; JOMAR SANTOLICES Y BAUSTUSILA AND ZEUS BELMONTE Y MORATO, accused-appellants). — The Court of Appeals elevated the records of this case to this Court pursuant to its Resolution dated August 4, 2015. 1 The Resolution gave due course to the Notice of Appeal filed by accused-appellants Jomar Santolices y Baustusila and Zeus Belmonte y Morato.
In a Resolution 2 dated January 30, 2017, this Court noted the records forwarded by the Court of Appeals and informed the parties that they may file their supplemental briefs.
In a Resolution 3 dated June 28, 2017, this Court noted the manifestations filed by the Office of the Solicitor General and by the accused-appellants stating that they would no longer file supplemental briefs.
After an evaluation of the records of the case, this Court resolves to DISMISS the appeal of accused-appellants for their failure to sufficiently show any reversible error in the challenged decision warranting the exercise of this Court's appellate jurisdiction.
WHEREFORE, this Court ADOPTS the findings of fact and conclusions of law of the Regional Trial Court and the Court of Appeals. The Decision of the Court of Appeals in CA-G.R. CR-HC No. 04411 is hereby AFFIRMED WITH MODIFICATION. This Court finds accused-appellants Jomar Santolices y Baustusila and Zeus Belmonte y Morato guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the crime of Murder. They are ordered to pay the heirs of the victim (1) Seventy-Five Thousand Pesos (P75,000.00) as civil indemnity; (2) Seventy-Five Thousand Pesos (P75,000.00) as moral damages; (3) Seventy-Five Thousand Pesos (P75,000.00) as exemplary damages; and (4) Fifty Thousand Pesos (P50,000.00) as temperate damages. 4
All monetary awards for damages shall earn interest at the rate of six percent (6%) per annum from the date of the finality of this Resolution until fully paid. 5
