Please take notice that the Court, Second Division, issued a Resolution dated21 November 2018which reads as follows:
"G.R. No. 230332 (PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES v. JOEY REY y RECTO)
After a careful review of the records of the case, the Court finds no reversible error in the assailed decision. However, the amount of exemplary damages to be paid to the heirs of Lorenzo Balas y Dela Cruz should be increased to P75,000 pursuant to prevailing jurisprudence. 1
WHEREFORE, the Court ADOPTS the findings of fact and conclusions of law in the attached Decision dated 27 July 2016 of the Court of Appeals in CA-G.R. CR No. 07129. The Decision finding appellant Joey Rey y Recto guilty of the crime of murder and imposing on him the penalty of reclusion perpetua is AFFIRMED with MODIFICATION that the amount of exemplary damages to be paid to the heirs of Lorenzo Balas y Dela Cruz is increased to P75,000 in accordance with prevailing jurisprudence.
