People v. Nisperos, Jr.
This is a criminal case, People of the Philippines vs. Romeo G. Nisperos, Jr. (G.R. No. 242685, 17 February 2020). The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal for failure to show that the Court of Appeals committed any reversible error in finding Nisperos guilty of violating Section 28 of Republic Act No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Section 5, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. Nisperos was sentenced to suffer the indeterminate penalty of eight (8) years and eight (8) months as minimum and nine (9) years and four (4) months as maximum for the firearms violation, and life imprisonment and a fine of Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php500,000.00) for the dangerous drugs violation.

Nisperos, Jr.). — After a judicious study of the case, the Court resolves to DISMISS the appeal for failure to sufficiently show that the Court of Appeals (CA) committed any reversible error in the assailed Decision as to warrant the exercise of the Court's appellate jurisdiction. WHEREFORE, the Court ADOPTS the findings of fact and conclusions of law in the Court of Appeals Decision dated May 25, 2018 in CA-G.R. CR-HC No. 08877 and AFFIRMS the said Decision finding the accused-appellant ROMEO G. NISPEROS, JR. GUILTY of violating Section 28 of Republic Act No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act sentencing him to suffer the indeterminate penalty of eight (8) years and eight (8) months as minimum and nine (9) years and four (4) months as maximum, and Section 5, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act sentencing him to suffer the penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php500,000.00).
