NOTICE
Sirs/Mesdames :
Please take notice that the Court, Third Division, issued a Resolution datedJanuary 22, 2020, which reads as follows:
"G.R. No. 244252 (PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES, plaintiff-appellee, v. JOEDEL MADRIAGA y CATCATAN, accused-appellant.) — The Court of Appeals elevated the records of this case to this Court pursuant to its July 19, 2018 Resolution, 1 which gave due course to the Notice of Appeal filed by accused-appellant Joedel Madriaga y Catcatan.
In its April 1, 2019 Resolution, 2 this Court noted the records of this case forwarded by the Court of Appeals and informed the parties that they may file their supplemental briefs.
Both parties have since filed separate manifestations indicating that they would no longer file supplemental briefs. 3 HTcADC
After an evaluation of the records of this case, this Court resolves to DISMISS the appeal of accused-appellant for his failure to sufficiently show reversible error in the assailed Court of Appeals April 24, 2018 Decision in CA-G.R. CR-HC No. 08895 4 warranting the exercise of this Court's appellate jurisdiction.
WHEREFORE, this Court AFFIRMS the April 24, 2018 Decision of the Court of Appeals in CA-G.R. CR-HC No. 08895. Accused-appellant Joedel Madriaga y Catcatan is sentenced to suffer the penalty of life imprisonment and is ordered to pay a fine of Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (P500,000.00).
