NOTICE
Sirs/Mesdames:
Please take notice that the Court, Second Division, issued a Resolution dated26 February 2020which reads as follows:
"G.R. No. 239890 (People of the Philippines v. George A. Damarcos). — After a judicious study of the case, the Court resolves to DISMISS the appeal for failure to sufficiently show that the Court of Appeals committed any reversible error in the assailed Decision as to warrant the Court's appellate jurisdiction.
WHEREFORE, the Court ADOPTS the findings of fact and conclusions of law in the January 29, 2018 Decision of the Court of Appeals in CA-G.R. CR-HC No. 08501 and AFFIRMS said Decision finding accused-appellant George A. Damarcos GUILTY beyond reasonable doubt of the crime of Rape, defined and penalized under Article 266-A, paragraph 1, in relation to Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code, sentencing him to suffer the penalty of reclusion perpetua, and ordering him to pay AAA the following amounts: (a) P75,000.00 as civil indemnity; (b) P75,000.00 as moral damages; (c) P75,000.00 as exemplary damages; and (d) the interest rate of 6% per annum is imposed on all damages awarded from the finality of this resolution until fully paid.
