NOTICE
Sirs/Mesdames :
Please take notice that the Court, Third Division, issued a Resolution dated July 8, 2020, which reads as follows:
"G.R. No. 230908 (PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES, plaintiff-appellee v. MANUEL BUSTO, JR., accused-appellant). — This is a petition for review on certiorari under Rule 45 of the Rules of Court seeking to annual and set aside the Decision dated August 5, 2016 1 of the Court of Appeals in CA-G.R. CR-HC No. 07215.
After an evaluation of the case records, this Court resolves to DISMISS the appeal, there being no reversible error in the assailed Decision to warrant the exercise of this Court's appellate jurisdiction.
WHEREFORE, the Court of Appeals Decision dated August 5, 2016 in CA-G.R. CR-HC No. 07215 is AFFIRMED. Judgment is hereby rendered as follows:
1. Accused-Appellant Manuel Busto, Jr. is held GUILTY beyond reasonable doubt of murder as defined under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code for the killing of Lolita Mamenta. He is hereby sentenced to suffer the penalty of reclusion perpetua, and ORDERED to pay the heirs of Lolita Mamenta civil indemnity in the amount of P75,000.00; moral damages in the amount of P75,000.00; exemplary damages in the amount of P75,000.00; and actual damages in the amount of P176,300.00.
2. Accused-Appellant Manuel Busto, Jr. is held GUILTY beyond reasonable doubt of murder as defined under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code for the killing of Liezl Soriano. He is hereby sentenced to suffer the penalty of reclusion perpetua, and ORDERED to pay the heirs of Liezl Soriano civil indemnity in the amount of P75,000.00; moral damages in the amount of P75,000.00; exemplary damages in the amount of P75,000.00; and temperate damages in the amount of P25,000.00.
All damages awarded shall earn interest at the rate of six percent (6%) per annum from the time of finality of this Resolution until fully paid.
SO ORDERED."
