"G.R. No. 219888 — (People of the Philippines vs. Gloria Arzaga y Olino and Jenny Garcia y Bergado)
For Our review is the Decision 1 dated August 18, 2014 of the Court of Appeals (CA) in CA-G.R. CR-HC No. 06164, which affirmed the Joint Decision 2 dated February 20, 2012 of the Regional Trial Court of Urdaneta City, Pangasinan, Branch 48, in Criminal Case No. U-15769 for Illegal Sale of Dangerous Drugs and Criminal Case No. U-15770 for Illegal Possession of Drug paraphernalia, finding Gloria Arzaga y Olino and Jenny Garcia y Bergado (accused-appellants) guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the charges against them.
After a careful review of the records of the case, this Court resolves to DISMISS the instant appeal 3 for failure of the accused-appellants to sufficiently show any reversible error in the assailed CA decision.
WHEREFORE, premises considered, the Decision dated August 18, 2014 of the Court of Appeals in CA-G.R. CR-HC No. 06164 is hereby AFFIRMED in toto. Accordingly, in Criminal Case No. U-15769, Gloria Arzaga y Olino and Jenny Garcia y Bergado are found guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the crime of Illegal Sale of Dangerous Drugs, and both are hereby sentenced to suffer the penalty of life imprisonment and to pay a fine of P500,000.00. In Criminal Case No. U-15770, Gloria Arzaga y Olino is found guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the crime of Illegal Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and she is hereby sentenced to suffer a penalty of six (6) months and one (1) day to four (4) years imprisonment and a fine of P10,000.00.
