November 23, 1982 Seato Placement Services c/o Rodolfo Castro Midland Plaza, 2nd Flr., Suite 9-B M. Adriatico, Ermita Metro Manila Sir : This has reference to your undated letter requesting that you be allowed to use the corporate name "SEATO Placement Services, Inc." cdlex It appears from your letter that SEATO Placement Services is a single proprietorship duly registered with the Bureau of Domestic Trade. That since it was registered as such on June 28, 1979, it has entered into recruitment agreement with numerous principals abroad under such name and consequently, the firm has been identified by said name. In pursuing its activities, you desire that the same be converted into a corporation bearing the same name. That it will be detrimental to your business which already had gained confidence and goodwill from your clients, if it will not be allowed to make use of the same name. Considering that you have been allowed by the Bureau of Domestic Trade to use the business name "SEATO Placement Services" and taking into account the circumstances above mentioned, as well as the fact that SEATO (South East Asian Treaty Organization) is no longer existing, the Commission will not interpose any objection to the use of said name, provided, however, that the proposed corporation shall submit a written explanation as to the literal meaning of the acronym "SEATO", and, provided further, that the same shall not mean "South East Asian Treaty Organization" so as no to mislead the public. Please be advised accordingly. LexLib Very truly yours, (SGD.) JULIO A. SULIT, JR. Associate Commissioner
