July 14, 1982 Mr. Tablo Mayonila Signal-Tenement-Bicutan Tricycle Operators & Drivers Association, Inc. FTI Complex, Taguig Metro Manila Sir : This refers to your letter dated July 12, 1982 inquiring as to whether "Maharlika Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (MTODA)" is registered with this Office and whether the word "Maharlika" can be used as a part of the corporate name. A verification of the records on file with this Office disclosed the alleged corporation is not registered with this Office. However, our records showed that there is a proposed corporation bearing similar name denominated as "Maharlika Muslim Tricycle Drivers-Operators Association, Inc." filed with this Office for registration on October 21, 1981 which, up to date remains unapproved due to some deficiencies. As to your second query, please be informed that the word "Maharlika" cannot be used as part of a corporation name inasmuch as the same is reserved for the exclusive use of the government.
