Investment Scam in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur

March 4, 2013 SEC ADVISORY INVESTMENT SCAM IN TANDAG CITY, SURIGAO DEL SUR The Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") has received reports that many teachers from various schools in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur have invested in a suspected pyramiding scam. The teachers were encouraged to invest P16,800.00 with a promise to "double the money" within six (6) months and to receive $10,000.00 for another six months. Those who invested have not received the promised amount and even the return of their investment despite repeated demands. Thus, the public is repeatedly warned NOT to invest in high yield-high risk investment a promise that is too good to be true. Before investing, make sure that the securities offered are registered with the SEC.
