Amendment to the Procedure in the Bond Section

December 11, 1972 REVENUE MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 42-72 SUBJECT : Amendment to the Procedure in the Bond Section TO : All Internal Revenue Officers, employees and Others Concerned: In connection with the procedure presently being followed in the registration, processing, approval, safekeeping and cancellation of bonds, paragraph 1, 2, and 5 of Revenue Memorandum Order No. 64-64 dated September 30, 1964 are hereby amended to read as follows: 1. All bonds received in any division in the National Office, any branch in the Regional Offices or in the office of the Chief Revenue Officers or Collection Agent should be acted upon by the division or unit concerned for the processing of said bonds. 2. After the division or unit concerned has processed the bond and found it to be in order, it should be forwarded to the Office of the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner, as the case may be, for approval. After the approval of the bond, all papers relative thereto and the approved bond should be forwarded to the Bond Section, Accountable Forms Division for registration, whereby the original bond as well as other related papers thereto shall be detached for file. Due notation of said approval of the bond and its filing with the corresponding index card should be made in the Bond Register. cdt 3. After the approval of the cancellation of the bond signed by the Commissioner or the Deputy Commissioner, the docket should be forwarded to the Bond Section for proper cancellation and due notation. A copy of the approved letter of cancellation shall be detached for file and record purposes before release of any communication relative to the cancellation of the bond.
