Cash as the only Form of Payment for Documentary Stamps Sold

June 13, 1968 REVENUE MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 34-68 SUBJECT : Cash as the only Form of Payment for Documentary Stamps Sold Existing orders require that certified checks next to cash are the only acceptable forms of payment for documentary stamps sold. This, however, did not prevent manipulators from presenting fake certified checks in payment for documentary stamps. In view thereof, collection agents, cash clerks and municipal treasurers acting as collection agents are hereby instructed to accept only cash (Central Bank Notes and coins) as the only form of payment for documentary stamps sold; checks of whatever kind are no longer acceptable for payments like this. Peso bills, especially those of the higher denominations, should be examined thoroughly to prevent acceptance of fake peso bills. This Order is a reiteration of a telegram sent last June 7, 1968 by this Office to all regional directors. cdtech This Order shall take effect immediately. MISAEL P.
