March 5, 1993 REVENUE MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 17-93 SUBJECT : Requests for the Issuance of Certification/s and Release of Taxpayer Information from the Computer and Information Systems Service (CISS) TO : All Internal Revenue Officers and Others Concerned Various requests for the issuance of certification/s and/or release of taxpayer information are being coursed directly to CISS without duly considering whether such requests (if granted) would be a breach of Section 269 of the National Internal Revenue Code on unlawful divulgence of confidential information. cdt Therefore, pending issuance of appropriate ruling/procedures for the release of certifications and/or taxpayer information by CISS, all requests for such records/data shall be referred to the Chief, Legislative, Ruling and Research Division, who in turn shall forward all approved requests to CISS for generation of needed information.
