March 31, 1997 REVENUE MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 14-97 SUBJECT : Hataw Fitness Program TO : All Revenue Officials and Employees I . BACKGROUND : To develop camaraderie, unity and cooperation and to promote health consciousness among BIR personnel in a wholesome and balanced working environment towards the fulfillment of the Bureau's Vision and Mission, and in consonance with the Civil Service Memorandum Circular No. 6 series of 1995 and CSC Resolution No. 95-2907 dated April 20, 1995, a "Hataw Fitness Program" is hereby adopted. II . OBJECTIVES : This program aims to: 1. Promote physical fitness as a means of achieving a healthy mind and body among BIR personnel; 2. Promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle and a regimen of regular physical fitness activities as a strategy to reduce the risk of heart disease; and 3. Improve the ability of BIR personnel to cope with both physical and mental stress that accompany daily work. III . GENERAL POLICIES AND GUIDELINES : 1. The Hataw Fitness Program is a project of the Internal ICP (Integrated Communications Program ) under "Integrating the BIR Family," in coordination with the Welfare Section of the Medical and Dental Division and HRDS. 2. The "Hataw Fitness Program" shall be implemented in all offices of the NOB, Revenue Regions, RDO of the Bureau starting April 14, 1997. 3. The Regional Offices are instructed to organize their own Hataw Fitness Program Committee in coordination with the HRMC for implementation of the program in their respective regions. They shall coordinate with the Medical and Dental Division and/or HRDS. 4. All employees of the BIR shall be required to join the program one day per week according to the schedule set by the pertinent office. 5. Employees who are in doubt of their health status to participate in the program shall report to the Medical & Dental Division for employees in the NOB and Metro Manila or to any government or DOH accredited clinic for employees of BIR offices outside Metro Manila for fitness evaluation. Employees with health problems and those who cannot be excused from their work shall be required to present an exemption slip duly signed by the clinic physician or their immediate superior as the case may be. 6. All participants should wear light, comfortable clothes & shoes during the exercise. 7. There shall be monitors for "Hataw Fitness Program" who will serve as fitness instructors during the conduct of the exercise. cdpr IV . CONDUCT OF HATAW FITNESS PROGRAM IN THE NATIONAL OFFICE : 1. The "Hataw Fitness Program" will be held daily, Monday to Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 pm at the flagpole driveway of BIR NOB starting April 14, 1997. 2. All employees will be divided into 5 groups, with one group assigned to one day of the week, from Monday to Friday, to ensure that the program does not disrupt work and office routine. 3. Employees shall report to the venue in exercise clothes 10 minutes before the designated time. Attendance shall be monitored.
